Could a Mini Horse Be Bred Small Enough to Fit in Your Palm? | Wired Science

Really, really miniature horses. Something about that just seems beyond not right. Second to our penchant for unforeseen side effects would have to be our capacity to become board with our latest creation. While the dog breeders are finally reaching the place where the evidence of their tampering no longer takes as long to manifest, I guess the horse breeders think their reading from a different page.

We (humanity) are so hard to fathom. From deposited on side of the road fully grown horses, or formerly loved or still loved but too expensive to maintain exotic snakes and reptiles in very public parks in the city, one thing should be clear. No type of creature is to beloved by us to get the boot. It can't be made small enough for us to love forever or cute enough to be guaranteed never to receive the boot.

With the humane society probably at its wits end and well past financial viability, do they really need yet another class or type of animal to liberate, heal or be humane to? I guess so.

Should You Be Afraid of Airport Body Scans? Or Just the TSA? | Technomix | Fast Company

Media_httpimagesfastc_hipbe

I'm beginning to think God is a serious comedian. There is no single thing man can create that doesn't have unwanted side-effects. Even the very best of things must be used in moderation and within limits.

The TSA's new full body scanners seem yet another glaring example of our desire to address a credible and serious threat with a solution that creates at least another if not several credible and serious threats. The image on the left seems pretty standard but the one on the right, how many mega pixels is that! The obvious question is are the images destroyed the moment you are cleared to leave the scanner? If not, then when and who has access in the interim. If there are breaches what is the liability for 'Girl's Gone Wild Airport Style' or even a spoof similar to the website making fun of what Walmart shoppers wear sans the clothes?

The threats to flying passengers are very real and this seems a solid solution but it is clear there need to be some serious checks and balances. The old pat down standby is available. At least with a real strip search there are no pictures. Right?! If the average passenger looked like the woman in the picture above, I could easily see a lot of college aged applicants and maybe me signing up, you know for the country.

I don't know how the privacy issues play out because individuals are always claiming privacy with the government saying you don't need much and some radicals saying any. Does your day of travel end with the family pet saying, 'Doesn't feel very dignified at all does it? Now get me some clothes!'?

These are more questions than I'm qualified to answer because asking is always easier. The technology doesn't concern me much if thorough safe guards are put in place to address the human side of things. In the end I think the government will have to do better than, 'because we said so on this one'. Me I'm going to go and take better care of myself. Cecil B. Demille's been dead a long time, but if I have to have a "close-up" and that's pretty close, I'm going to look good. I may have to go to the gym on this one. Maybe this will lead us all to pay more attention to our waist lines as I'm sure the scanner staff will thank us. Imagine trying not to pig out while on vacation because TSA will know you picked up some weight. You'd better watch grandma too, you might find her winking at TSA personnel and who knows, they may wink back. Is that Secret Lovers - Atlantic Starr in the background? I hope not. "Timmy what do you mean the man from the airport is on the phone for Grandma....!!!"
